I first discovered The Woe Betides when they got in touch about getting a gig with us in Norwich at the start of the year. We consequently booked them for a gig at the Puppet Theatre, for which they got a write up in NME. Although they were good that night, they have come on in leaps abd bounds in the past six months. In the last week I've seen them play twice, at both the Birdcage and at the Legion in Shoreditch with Tawny Owl, and have to say I've been impressed by what a great pop band they've become.
Impeccably tight, the three-piece have begun crafting hooks that are reminiscent of the likes of (at times) The Beatles whilst also recalling early Radiohead and it's surely only a matter of time before they are picked up by a label.
Their debut EP, the 'Play Dead EP' is still available (although I understand there are not many left) and the band are on tour in November to support the release of their new single, Sylvia.
Keep your peepers peeled; this is a band destined for big things...
